Krishnagiri, July 29: An explosion in the godown of a firecracker factory in Tamil Nadu’s Krishnagiri district resulted in the discovery of eight bodies and the injury of several others, on Saturday morning.

Saroj Kumar Thakore, the superintendent of police in Krishnagiri, claimed that the explosion occurred inside the firecracker factory owned by Ravi in the Pazhayapettai neighbourhood.

Houses and shops nearby were affected by the fire.

Rescue efforts were conducted out by police and firefighters who arrived on the scene quickly.

“As many as seven people have been declared dead and the few others injured have been taken to a nearby Government hospital for treatment,” said Thakore.
