Ranchi police arrest 15-yr-old boy for setting 9 buses on fire

Ranchi, June 30: The Ranchi police nabbed a 15-yr-old boy for setting the nine buses on fire at Birsa Munda Bus Terminus at KantaToli in the heart of Jharkhand capital on Thursday.

The boy, whose name has not been disclosed, will be produced before the child welfare committee (CWC) for appropriate legal action in the matter.

Officer-in-charge of Lower Bazar police station Dayanand Kumar confirmed the fact expressing his inability to divulge details in the matter involving a juvenile.

A police official said the boy set the buses on fire with the help of spirit spray and lighter.

“During the questioning the boy said that he first hit this spray near the fuel tank of the bus and then set it on fire with a lighter. The minor is a resident of Namkum area of Ranchi. He was working as a porter at Khadgarha bus stand for the last few days. He was fired from the job,” the police official said.

As many as nine buses had charred in back-to-back to two incidents of fire at Birsa Munda Bus Terminus on Thursday. The first incident of fire came to the fore around 12.45pm. In this incident as many as four buses were charred before the fire brigade could come and douse the fire. Another incident took place around 3.30pm after the firefighter returned to complete their job. In the second incident of fire at the same bus terminus, five buses were  charred before the fire fighter could return douse the fire.
