Ranchi, Dec.27: Police arrested an IT graduate from a Nagpur based engineering college, Praveen Kumar Jha, who created a fake website of the forest department and published advertisements for appointment of foresters in Jharkhand with an intention to siphon off  the application fee of job aspirants.

Jha, a resident of Qr No 1048, Sector 6/D, under sector-6 police station of Bokaro district, created the website on July 22, 2021 through GoDaddy.

GoDaddy is used as a web host and domain registrar. What that means is when people want to buy a domain name they can go to GoDaddy and purchase it. After they purchase the domain name they can host their website with the service.

Dy.SP of Cyber Cell Yashodhara, who cracked the case, informed this to Lagatar24.com saying the detection could be possible with the help of phone number and email given with billing address of the youth. The youth has given the billing address to GoDaddy, a US- based company, at the time of purchase of the domain.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Doranda police station, Ramesh Kumar Singh, who started a probe into the matter after principal chief conservator of forest Om Prakash registered an FIR on July 27 in the matter, said the 31-yr-old engineer had earlier committed the same crime advertising the post of railways after creating a website appearing like the website of Indian Railways.

Informing about the modus operandi, OC Singh said the youth created URL http;//www.forest-gov.com with the help of one Manoj Kumar who provided him an ICICI Bank account number 047401507671 in the name of Sameer Kumar to collect application fee. Jha identified himself as Harshad and used his mobile number 9313010087 and email id rohanjha112358@gmail.com to create the website.

Apart from various IPC sections he was also booked for The emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper use) Act, 1950, The State Emblem of India (prohibition of improper use) Act 2005 and Indian Copyright Act, 1957.
