Ranchi, Nov.2: Ranchi police have arrested two cybercriminals in the case of cheating of Rs 5.41 lakh by pretending to earn huge amounts by investing money in online shopping platform Amazon.

The arrested criminals include Deepak Kumar Singh (28), resident of Hirapur Mada Colony of Dhanbad and Rohit Kumar Singh (26), resident of Ruddi Ulidih of Katras police station area of Dhanbad.

This arrest was made under the leadership of Ranchi Cyber Station DSP co-in-charge Neha Bala. Two mobile phones have been recovered from them.

CID SP Karthik S told newsmen that cybercriminals used to bluff people by sending links through messages. They used to tell people to make a score by investing money slowly in Amazon. After that they asked them to sell the product online for a ‘good amount of money’.

People used to fall prey to the link and used to invest in the accounts created by these cyber criminals. The company used to be named User Technology. When a person used to complete the target of five lakh or more, then they used to withdraw money from the said account and close the number.

The SP said that the mastermind of the case is still absconding. Efforts are on to arrest him. It is to be known that Apoorva Vivek, son of  Chandrabhushan Prasad, a resident of Kathitand Panch Mandir of Ratu police station area, was cheated of 5.41 lakh. In this case, on September 8, 2021, Apoorva had lodged an FIR in Ranchi Cyber Police Station.
