Ranchi, June 14: Getting a clue from a youth involved in a bike robbery; the Ranchi police solved a 20-month old loving couple’s murder case.
The incident had taken place on November 13, 2021 at Tupudana in the outskirt of the Jharkhand capital. The loving couple, Vivek and Puja, was killed using sharp edged weapons.
Officer-in-charge of Tupudana police station Meera Singh confirmed the breakthrough saying the loving couple was killed in order to fight a gang of four rapists. “Police have arrested three of them while one having PLFI connection has already been murdered,” she said.
A police official said: “At the instance of the youth detained in a bike robbery case, a KTM bike was recovered from Murhu in Khunti district and a youth was detained from there. After which the police arrested the three youths involved in the murder while one of the accused was murdered. The arrested accused include Ravi, Ayush and Daniel. The other accused Niranjan Bando has the PLFI connection.”
“The three arrested accused told us that on the day of the incident, they were drinking alcohol while sitting on the ground. At the same time, a loving couple came to the ground and sat in a corner. Ravi and Niranjan planned raping the girl. Then a young man said, no he will not do that. After Niranjan, Ravi went to Vivek and Pooja sitting on the other side and started molesting them. When Vivek and Pooja protested, they started fighting. They also tried to rape the girl, but did not succeed. On this, the three accused killed Vivek and Pooja by slapping them. Then everyone ran away with the bike,” the police official said.
