Ranchi, Jan.31: Politics is high in the Jharkhand capital as the district administration directed to make Morhabadi ground free from over 250 makeshift shops after an incident of shoot out on January 27 near the residence of JMM supremo and ideologue Shibu Soren leaving one dead and four injured in broad daylight.
According to the district administration, the step is being taken to convert the ground into a high security zone, political parties, including BJP and Congress besides others take it as an attempt to pass buck of the administrative failure on poor vendors depending on the makeshifts for their livelihood.
This afternoon former Congress MLA K.N.Tripathi was noticed expressing his solidarity with vendors agitating against the order. He was noticed going towards Raj Bhawan to draw the attention of the President’s representative in the state towards the problem. Earlier, Mayor Asha Lakra, local MLA C.P.Singh besides others had also expressed their concern over the situation and raised questions on the quality of policing in the state.
The situation had put civic authorities in a catch-22 situation and till afternoon not a single shop could be removed from the ground though an enforcement team was noticed stationed in the locality with an intention to start the evacuation work.
Amid politics though police is busy locating and arresting the criminals involved in the incident and claims to have arrested more than four involved in the incident of broad daylight shootout but politics is yet to come to an end.
“This is not for the first time crime has been committed near Morhabadi ground but the way the incident has taken a political turn suggests a section of people is interested more in politicising the issue instead of helping the law enforcement agency to work,” a senior police official said.
