Ranchi: Samrat gang chief to remain in police remand for two weeks

Ranchi, Sept.26: Notorious gangster Jainath Sahu, who had surrendered before the court on August 23 to come into the mainstream of society, is now in police remand and will remain there for two weeks.

The development took place after police prayed to the trial court for his remand to interrogate him in two cases under investigation. The two cases include Lalu Lohra’s murder case registered at Lapung police besides a case against him under the sections of the Arms Act.

Sahu’s advocate Priyanshu Singh informed that while the court of Additional Judicial Commissioner Kamlesh Behra allowed for 10-day police remand in the case under Arms Act, the court of additional judicial commissioner P.K.Sharma allowed police remand till October 6 in a murder case.

Sahu was synonymous with terror in Khunti, Ranchi, Gumla and border areas. He is the kingpin othe f Samrat Gang.  As many as 97 cases of crimes are pending against him at different police stations across the state. The cases in which the court had allowed police remand was registered against him in 2013.
