Ranchi, Dec.9: Special ACB judge Prakash Jha sentenced four-year imprisonment to an excise department inspector Vishwanath Ram for accepting bribes for issuing permits for 245 cases of liquor.
Apart from imprisonment, the court also imposed a fine of Rs 1.30 lakh on him. In case of its non-payment the court provided him an additional nine -month jail.
The ACB had arrested Ram on the complaint of licensed liquor shop owner Praveen Kumar on March 25, 2014.
A constable was also accused in the case. The court did not find any evidence against him and thus acquitted him.
In this case, the prosecution produced 14 witnesses.
