Ranchi, May 2: Ahead of the Eid festival, Ranchi police have decided on a massive security deployment across the state capital to maintain law and order.

On Monday, a security drill was conducted in the urban area to check the mobility and quick deployment capability of the police force. Over 200 cops on bikes, all PCR vans besides over 50 police vans were deployed in the security drill. The mobility drill was conducted in Kanke as well as other areas in the afternoon. Kanke locality had witnessed a couple of communal incidents.

“The drill was conducted to check how well we mobilize force besides to warn anti-social elements that the police will take strong action if law and order are disturbed by them,” said Ranchi SP (City) Anshuman.

He said that for law and order 600 cops have been provided to Ranchi police. “Besides, we are also doing internal mobilization so the total strength is likely to be near 1000. A company of the CRPF and Rapid Action Force will also be deployed. All police stations have been asked to stay alert. In the sensitive localities security has been enhanced,” said SP.

On being asked about the use of a loudspeaker SP said that he has no such specific instruction on this point. “All such decisions will be taken by SSP and other senior officials,” he said.
