Ranchi, April 22: The Ranchi University (RU), for the first time in 62 years since its conception, has organised a book fair aptly named ‘RU Kalam’ for students and teachers alike between April 19 and 26 at Aryabhatta Auditorium.

At this fair, RU is displaying books written by the teachers and research scholars of the university.

Managing the event, Dr. Kanjeev Lochan in this regard said, “Even when there is no internet signal, printed letters will still provide information and knowledge. Most importantly, the students who could not see the research from other departments on several topics will now be able to see and read it too. Through these journals, students and teachers will be able to get more information and also be inspired to write, not just read books.”

Notably, apart from teachers and retired teachers, there are also books by more than three research scholars in the exhibition.

VC Prof. Kamini Kumar said that the students, research scholars and teachers of this exhibition would also get the inspiration to write books, while former VC Prof. KK Nag said, “Research and books are the identity of the university.”

Books of more than 70 authors have been showcased in the exhibition, while the fair itself has had a footfall of more than 800-900 book lovers.

PRO Pritam, in this regard, said this is the first time that Ranchi University will be organizing such an event. “However, this book fair is different from others as we have only invited books of research scholars, students and teachers of the university to be on sale. This means that all writers displayed in the fair will be present or former members of the Ranchi University family,” he added.

Some of the books displayed at the exhibition include a book on PM Narendra Modi written by Dr. Jayaprakash; one on Jaipal Singh Munda by Dr Damayanti Sinku; JNU stories, Bhaisajya Ratnavali and Medicines of Early India by Dr Kajiv Lochan. Books of other authors including Dr. Anand Thakur are also a part of the exhibition along with works of authors such as VC Prof. Kamini Kumar, former Aquaque Director Dr. Jyoti Kumar, and Dr. Neelima Pathak, Dr. JB Pandey, Dr. Prasenjit, Dr. Hari Oraon, Dr. Rita and Dr. Namrata.
