The university will appoint three coaches, while Physical Training Instructors (PTI) will also be appointed in 14 colleges under the university. The list of colleges includes six colleges in Ranchi as well. Apart from this, several colleges in rural areas will also have PTIs appointed. Regarding this, the university has given instructions to the principals of the colleges and has asked for the details of their preparations in this regard.
Prior to this, the players of Ranchi University performed at national and international level competitions. University players including Salima Tete and Nikki Pradhan have had opportunities to perform at the Olympics as well. International-level players Florence Barla and Madhumita Kumari have also participated in several international events including ASIAD.
Ramchandra Sanga is also an athlete, who has won medals at the national and international levels. However, for the last few years, there is no sports coach at the university. Due to this, students planning to make a career in the field of sports are facing problems and have had to migrate to other states.
Notably, there are three posts of physical trainers in RU, wherein all three trainers have already retired. These include Shekhar Bose, Jayakumar Sinha and Mangal Kachhap.
A five-year integrated course for physical education will also soon begin in Ranchi University. Under this, BPED and MPED courses will be started. As a result of this, students that have an interest in physical education will not need to go to other states. At present, there is no provision for graduation and PG studies in physical education at the university.
At the moment, Ramgarh College under Vinoba Bhave University is the only college in the state that has one-year diploma course in PE. Notably, the BPED and MPED will function as vocational courses.
The university has also prepared the syllabus for the integrated course. Only approval from the academic council remains. The university administration is currently working on the necessary parameters in its syllabus according to the guidelines of the UGC. Theory and practical will be included in the syllabus as well.
Stadium, playground, and practice court will be needed for conducting the syllabus, for which RU administration will request the state government to provide access to the stadium in Khelgaon. Apart from this, the Astroturf stadiums of Gumla and Simdega will also be used. Along with this, the university will also renovate its volleyball court and make a synthetic court.
Dr V P Verma, Principal, Doranda College stated that the VC has asked to appoint physical trainers and instructors. However, no such written instruction has been sent by the university. PTIs may be appointed at the college level under the instructions of the VC. Along with this, the university itself may also appoint PTIs at its level.
Sources in the university have claimed that the University will soon appoint three physical trainers. All three appointments are under process. Priority in hiring will be given to younger candidates rather than retired trainers.
