Ranchi, Sept 2: The Tribal and Regional languages department at Ranchi University is set to change the rules prior to beginning admissions in post-graduate courses. As per sources, the students aspiring to take admissions in PG at the TRL department will need graduation in languages that they want PG in.

Notably, a total of nine languages including Nagpuri, Khadia, PanchPargania, Ho, Kurukh, Mundari, Kurmali, Santali and Khortha are taught under the PG Tribal and Regional Language (TRL) Center of Ranchi University.

Earlier, these languages allowed students of any faculty to enroll, however, now this facility will end from the upcoming session. Now the PG department will enroll students of the same language. For example, a student who has graduated in Nagpuri language will now be able to do masters in the same. They will not be allowed to change it to some other language.

Dean of Student Welfare Dr Raj Kumar Sharma said that this year, only students of the concerned subject will be able to enroll in PG TRL. “The compulsion of subjects for enrollment in nine departments of tribal and regional languages was abolished by the Ranchi University administration. These languages include Nagpuri, Khadia, PanchPargania, Ho, Kurukh, Mundari, Kurmali, Santali and Khortha,” he added.

He also said that science and engineering students had also taken admission earlier in these subjects in the last session, but this will not be possible from now on.

When questioned about the reason for the same, TRL Director Hari Oraon said that this was Ranchi University’s decision to allow students to change faculties earlier. Similarly, the decision to not allow students to do that anymore is also the university’s decision.

Notably, PG enrollment at Ranchi University is to start from September 15. The result of graduation semester six for several departments is ready to be published as well. As per information, the NEP 2020 will not be implemented from this session. The enrollment process will be done only through the Chancellor’s portal and the students will have two-year PG courses.
