Ranchi, Apr 8: Women’s College Principal Dr Shamshun Nehar has claimed innocence after Jharkhand Governor Dr Ramesh Bais ordered an immediate recovery of Rs 20.91 lakh, allegedly wrongly taken by Dr. Nehar from January 2007 to January 2022 in lieu of housing rent. Dr Nehar has been ordered to return the amount to the university immediately.
“I have nothing to say in this regard. I saw the news the same as you but am yet to receive any notice or letter, so I know no more than you. All I can say is that I did nothing, and I’m innocent in the matter,” said Women’s College Principal Dr Nehar while talking to a Lagatar24.com correspondent in this regard.
The Governor further instructed Vice Chancellor Dr Kamini Kumar to herself to decide the course of action in this regard stating, “She can herself decide whether there is a need for investigation against Dr. Nehar or not.”
The above mentioned instructions were given on the basis of the complaint received against the principal through a report submitted by the Vice Chancellor of Ranchi University. The governor had received information that in the year 2005, the principal, while living in a quarter allotted to her husband, took house rent, which is against the rules. The governor passed the order after consulting the Finance Department and the Law Department of the university in this regard.
RU VC Dr Kamini Kumar in this regard said, “Action will be taken against the principal of Women’s College and investigation will take place. We will also send her a notice in this regard.”
