Ranchi, May 3: A youth dancing in baarat was shot dead by miscreants.

The incident took around 2 am on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday at New Secretariat Colony in Hinoo under the Doranda police station area in Ranchi. The police came to know about the incident in the morning around 8 am.

Officer in charge of Doranda police station Ramesh Kumar Singh confirmed the incident saying a murder case has been registered in this connection. The victim has been identified as Jagdish Yadav (25).

“Jagdish had come from Hazaribag as a baarati,” OC Singh said

The investigating officer of the case Rajendra Mandal said the youth sustained four bullet injuries. Four 7.56mm bullets hit his upper part of the body from a close range.

Mandal said the reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained.

“Victim’s father Samari Yadav did not express his suspicion saying the youth had no enmity with anyone. He had come here to participate in his friend’s wedding from Wahimar village under Katkamsandi police station. His friend’s name is Birendra Kumar Rana. Rana married one Mukesh Sharma’s daughter. Sharma runs a furniture shop,” Mandal said.

The youth’s autopsy was done at RIMS and the report is awaited.

A local resident said three miscreants committed the crime and police have collected the CCTV footage and video recording which give clues of the criminals.
