Guwahati, Feb 20: Yash Dhull, the skipper of India’s U19 World Cup team, became the first third batter in the history of the Ranji Trophy to score a century in each of his first two innings. In the second innings of Delhi’s Elite Group H match against Tamil Nadu at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati, the Delhi opener had a field day.
As Delhi reached 228 for 0 before the Group H match ended in a draw, Yash Dhull, who led India to U19 World Cup success earlier in February, smashed 113 in 202 balls, blasting 14 fours and a six-wicket stand that remained unbeaten. In a match where the batsmen controlled the proceedings, Tamil Nadu took the first-innings lead after scoring 494 in response to Delhi’s first-innings total of 452.

Yash Dhull’s second-innings century came after a first-innings score of 113, which was also his first-class debut. Dhull scored 226 runs in the tie, confirming his status as one of the most promising young batters in the game.
Yash Dhull joined a select group of hitters who have scored hundreds in each of their first two innings in the Ranji Trophy. Yash Dhull joins the likes of Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, Surinder Khanna, Madan Lal, Ajay Sharma, Raman Lamba, and Rishabh Pant in the illustrious list of Delhi cricketers.
Dhull had spent his whole career in the middle order, and he even batted at No. 4 for India at the U19 World Cup earlier this month. Dhull, on the other hand, was ready when the opportunity to open the innings for Delhi in his first-class debut arose.
Yash Dhull has always known that making the move from age-group to first-class cricket is only possible if he is prepared to face challenges, and that is exactly what he did on his Ranji Trophy debut for Delhi against Tamil Nadu.
“In my cricket career, there has been a lot of coaches but someone who had guided me from childhood is Rajesh Nagar sir. Nagar sir had told me that when Ranji Trophy will come, I might be asked to open, so I should be mentally prepared,” Dhull
