New Delhi: Auto fuel prices in the country have remained stable despite global oil price volatility, but the oil marketing organisations hiked the price of diesel slightly on Friday, while keeping petrol prices stable. As a result, diesel prices in the national capital jumped by 20 paise per litre to Rs. 88.82 per litre, while petrol prices stayed steady for the 19th consecutive day.
Petrol prices in Mumbai remained steady at Rs 107.26 per litre, while diesel prices rose to around Rs 96.40 per litre.
Before making any price changes, OMCs have preferred to keep a close eye on the global oil situation.
Consumers have benefited from OMCs’ wait-and-see strategy, as no revisions were made during a period when oil prices were rising due to a shortage in US production and increased demand. This would have entailed a one-rupee increase in fuel and diesel prices.
Fuel prices have been hovering around record highs since April of this year, thanks to 41 hikes in retail rates. It dropped on a couple instances but stayed mainly constant.
