Daltonganj, May 8: The Palamu branch of the Indian Red Cross Society today held a blood donation camp at the IMA to mark World Red Cross Society Day which falls on May 8.
DC Anjaneyulu Dodde who is the ex officio chairman of the Red Cross Society here urged the people to donate blood to serve the ailing humanity.
Secretary of the Palamu branch of the Red Cross Society Dr Satyajit Gupta, a renowned ultrasonographist, said blood is not manufactured in any factory all over the world.
Dr Gupta said, “It’s our human body that manufactures blood and as such we are the sole proprietor to it and it is our social and benign responsibility to donate blood as blood donated is blood generated.”
There is no donation as pious or holy as blood donation, Dr Gupta reminded.
Elites of the town like Gyanchand Pandey, Sharmila Shumee, Prof Vijay Prasad, Sudhir Singh, Indrajeet Singh Dimple, Nawal Yucatan and others were present on the occasion.
A total of 12 units of blood was donated and collected today at this function, said Dr Gupta.
Sources said blood donation dips in acute summer and it is really a hard task to ready or find a donor for blood.
A Red Cross Society member here said, “It’s the personal contact and approach of Dr Satyajit Gupta, the secretary of this Society who so arranges blood donors otherwise people avoid giving blood citing acute summer and lots of sweating”.
