Daltonganj, Aug 31: The members of the minority community at Murumatu are aghast at the turn of events.
As per reports, the land in controversy belongs to the minority community and they regularly obtained its rent receipt. It was the Musahars who had asked the minority community to send them to Loto village bearing all transportation costs by the minority community itself and so they arranged two pick-up vans.
Palamu DC Anjaneyulu Dodde speaking to lagatar24.com today said, “SDO Sadar Rajesh Kumar Sah has informed that members of the minority community have the land papers with them. They are paying the land rent quite regularly and its receipts are with them.”
Dodde further said the SDO has told him that members of the minority community also gave food to the Mahadalits before they were sent away from the village.
The DC said the administration has begun to locate and identify land for the Dalits and in a week, 2 to 3 decimals of government land, as per its availability, will be settled with them.
He, however, wondered over the persistent demand made on social media and other news outlets regarding these Dalits to resettle them again on the same piece of land at Murumatu saying, “The land on which they resided does not belong to them. We will settle them with land very soon once and for all. There can be no better way than this to make their living much easier.”
The DC sounded pained when he said a section of media has not worked hard and properly to find out the truth of the entire episode and just played to the gallery.
Meanwhile, Taj Mohammad, the Board President of the BJP minority cell at Murumatu told lagatar24.com today, “The 6 katthas of land in question was bought by one Rasool Miyan around 30 years ago.”
He further said, “The Musahars went out of this land happily. The 42 members were given Rs 500 each by the minority community. Their names and thumb impressions are there in an agreement paper.”
“The Dalits were given Rs 3,500 for tarpaulin, Rs 2,400 for asbestos sheet when they asked for it from the minority community. It was they who wanted to go to Loto village under Chhatarpur police station for which free transportation was arranged but this sudden turn of events has surprised everyone,” Taj Mohammad added.
However, the minority community feels sad now about the dismantling of the Dalits’ huts which should have been avoided or done only after due intimation to the local administration.
“The piece of land was vacated with the consent of the Musahars for one room to be built there for an already 5-room Madrasa at Murumatu,” said the BJP minority cell functionary.
Sources said the piece of land was thus emptied for the extension of one room to the Madrasa as only then JAC Ranchi will agree to send a grant in aid for it.
