Jamshedpur,  April 16 : Residents of Mango will soon get a park and a walking track for morning walkers.

A walking track with plantations on both sides and sitting arrangements for morning and evening walkers has been completed at the  Dimna Road in Mango, which is the gateway to Jamshedpur from NH-33.

State health minister Banna Gupta was supposed to inaugurate the facility on Friday but the programme was cancelled by Jusco, which had developed the facility due to some unavoidable circumstances.

Moreover,  the 3.5 Km Dimna Road will be purged of illegal hoardings and banners crowding its skyline soon.

The Mango Notified Area Committee (MNAC), the local civic body, had roped in Tata Steel subsidiary, JUSCO, for executing the beautification plan on the Dimna Road, one of the busiest arteries of the city.

MNAC officials said the entire stretch of the walking track will be constructed on the 3.5 Km road connecting Mango Chowk with Dimna Chowk.

” It is an ambitious project which will change the look of the busy Dimna Road, ” said an official.

Mango Notified Area Committee has also decided to launch a crackdown on unauthorised hoardings and billboards of the densely populated area to beautify the area and clear the view for commuters and pedestrians.

These include all those put up by political groups and commercial agencies.

Mango residents welcomed the new project but rued over running of heaving vehicles on the Dimna Road.

” A walking track and a park is a good addition to the amenities but steps should be taken to check movement of heavy vehicles which often claims innocent lives in mishaps, ” pointed out a local resident.
