Shahababad Range DIG Satya Prakash, Bhojpur District Magistrate Tanay Sultania, Superintendent of Police Raj, and several other administrative and police officials were also present.
Family Members Questioned, Locations Inspected
The retired judge met Bharat’s family members one by one and recorded their statements. After the meetings, the team inspected various locations connected to the incident to gather information about the sequence of events.
Mother Demands Action Against Officers Involved
Speaking to the inquiry team and later to the media, Bharat Tiwari’s mother Asha Devi said she had demanded strict action against all those responsible for her son’s death, including the officers and police personnel involved in the encounter. She said the inquiry team has asked her to submit her demands in writing.
Background of the Case
Bharat Tiwari died in a police encounter on June 17. His family alleged it was a fake encounter and filed an FIR against the police. Villagers and family members blocked the National Highway in protest, raising murder charges, and stones were also pelted at the police team following the incident. A judicial inquiry was subsequently ordered. Bhojpur SP had also visited Bharat’s family late on Wednesday night and held discussions with the bereaved family for nearly an hour.
