Ranchi, Aug. 16: BJP former Jharia legislator Sanjeev Singh was referred to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) from Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) after repeated brain strokes and depression.

The development took place after a RIMS medical board took the decision in Singh’s matter.

Singh, who is serving jail term in Neeraj Singh murder case, was admitted to RIMS after he was referred from SNMMCH on August 11 following deterioration of his health. He is undergoing treatment under the supervision of medicine department doctor, Dr. Ajit Dungdung.

RIMS medical superintendent cum State Level Medical Council President Dr. Heerendra Birua said that the medical board referred Singh to AIIMS. The medical board consisted of doctors of Medicine, Surgery, ENT, Eye and Ortho besides Neurology and Psychiatry.

Information regarding the board’s decision was sent to Dhanbad Divisional Jail superintendent. Sanjeev will be sent to AIIMS after getting orders from the IG (prison) and the court.

Earlier, Singh was admitted to the RIMS paying ward, where he was advised to get a CT scan and MRI done.  He was taken to the radiology department amid tight security. His CT scan was done but the MRI test could not be done due to a technical snag.
