Ranchi, Dec 26: The Ranchi Municipal Corporation is set to become proactive in terms of collecting door-to-door garbage pickup this time around. The corporation furthermore plans to become greener through e-garbage pickup trucks as well and to monitor cleanliness in the city through the Swachhta App.
After MoU fails with various companies in the past three times, the RMC is planning to monitor the garbage pickup this time around by letting the residents of the municipality by letting them place complaints through the Swachhta App.
Along with this, the RMC also plans to launch e-vehicles to pick up garbage, trails for which have already begun. Under this, a Mumbai-based company Sirius Pvt Ltd has removed the damaged diesel engine of an old Tata Ace owned by RMC and installed an electric engine (operates on battery).
The company’s representative Rachna Swaroop had earlier said that it is pollution free and it also costs 90 percent less. Once fully charged, this vehicle will run for 120 kilometres. Meanwhile, its battery is changed in three and a half years.
Talking in this regard, Deputy Mayor Sanjeev Vijayvargiya has said, “A tender has been floated and two companies have even participated in it. However, the tender is yet to be opened.”
He added, “The Corporation will decide on the kinks regarding the phases in which it is to be taken out, the number of vehicles to be changed, the areas in which it will be launched initially, etc.”
The Municipal Corporation will also work proactively if the garbage is not picked up from areas in the capital. The monitoring will be done through the Swatchhta App, wherein, once a complaint is lodged, garbage will be picked up within 24 hours of the complaint.
The RMC has claimed that if the garbage in an area is not collected, or drain cleaning and fogging are not done, then complaints can be lodged through the Swachhta App. Immediate action will be taken on the complaint. Feedback will also be accepted after the resolution of the complaint on the app.
A Municipal Corporation official has said that the purpose of taking feedback is whether the complaint lodged by the people through the app was done or not and how long it took to complete the work.
Deputy Mayor Vijayvargiya in this regard said, “This will be done for two reasons, one to monitor the cleanliness of the city and to make sure that the garbage is picked up on time. Along with this, it will also be made sure that Ranchi receives a good ranking in the Cleanliness Survey 2023, which has also been conducted earlier.”
Notably, after downloading the Swachhta app, people can make complaints about garbage in the city on the app. After cleaning the area, a photograph of that clean area will also be sent to the mobile number of the complainant.
