New Delhi, Dec 26: India skipper Rohit Sharma and opener KL Rahul are most likely going to miss the home series against Sri Lanka in January.

According to ANI sources in the BCCI, Rohit has not yet fully recovered from the thumb injury he suffered during the second ODI against Bangladesh earlier in December. According to the reports, KL will get married during the time period depicted in the series. From January 3 to January 15, Sri Lanka will tour India for three T20Is and three ODIs. Notably, Rohit and KL had a poor year with the bat in 2022.

In 2022, Rohit Sharma encountered significant difficulties in living up to his Hitman moniker. Rohit scored 90 runs in two Test matches this year, averaging 30 runs per game, with a 46-run best.

He scored 249 runs in eight ODIs at an average of 41.50, including three half-centuries and a career-high 76*.

With three half-centuries and a top score of 72, Rohit scored 656 runs in 29 T20I innings this year, averaging 24.29 and striking out at a rate of 134.42.

Rohit scored 995 runs overall in 40 innings this year, falling short of the 1000-run threshold. These runs had six fifty-plus runs with an average speed of 27.63. He failed to record an international century for the entire year for the first time since 2012, though.

On the other side, KL played four Tests this year and recorded four fifty-plus scores while scoring 137 runs at a 17.12 average. He has the highest test score of 50 this year.

He scored 251 runs at an average of 27.88 in 10 ODIs this year, including two half-centuries and his top score of 73. He scored 434 runs at an average of 28.93 in 16 T20Is this year, including six half-centuries, with a top score of 62.
