Dubai: India captain Rohit Sharma was visibly frustrated during the Champions Trophy 2025 final against New Zealand at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday. The incident occurred during the drinks break after 15 overs, with New Zealand at 83/3 following Kuldeep Yadav’s twin strikes.

According to social media speculation, Rohit seemed to be directing his anger at Shubman Gill, who was allegedly late to join the team huddle. Fans claimed that the Indian skipper hurled a mouthful at someone, prompting Gill to rush towards the group.

Kuldeep Yadav Shines on the Big Stage

• Kuldeep Yadav (2/25 in 6 overs) delivered crucial breakthroughs, dismissing both Rachin Ravindra (37 off 29 balls) and Kane Williamson (11 off 14 balls).

• His googly breached Ravindra’s defense, while Williamson mistimed a return catch to the bowler.

• Ravindra Jadeja joined the wicket-takers’ list, trapping Tom Latham (14) LBW, reducing New Zealand to 135/4 in 30 overs.

New Zealand’s Strong Start

• The opening stand of 57 runs between Ravindra and Will Young (15 off 23 balls) was the highest against India in this tournament.

• Mohammed Shami and Hardik Pandya struggled initially to contain the run flow.

• Varun Chakravarthy (1/21 in 3 overs) made an impact by trapping Will Young LBW early in the innings.
