Ranchi, Jan 3: The Jharkhand High Court on Monday granted bail to Sub Inspector Shiv Kumar Kanojia in the alleged suicide case of Sahibganj’s woman police station in-charge Rupa Tirkey.

The bail plea was heard in the court of Justice Ambuj Nath of the Jharkhand High Court.  After hearing the bail petition, the court granted bail to Shiv Kumar Kanojia on two personal bonds of 25-25000.

Kanojia has been behind the bars for the last almost 6 months in this case. Advocate Inderjit Sinha, on behalf of Shiv Kumar, argued in the Jharkhand High Court.

Notably, in the Sahibganj Mahila Police Station in-charge Rupa Tirkey suicide case, the Sahibganj police arrested the 2018 batch Sub Inspector Shiv Kanojia on May 9, 2021. Case number 127/21 has been registered in Jirwabari police station in this case and further investigation is going on.

The investigation report of Sahibganj police has revealed that Rupa Tirkey’s case is not a case of murder but of suicide. Tirkey’s sentiments were hurt by Shiv Kumar Kanojia, his batchmate due to which she committed suicide by hanging herself. Kanojia is the SI of the 2018 batch. Presently he is posted in Chaibasa.
