Ranchi, July 11: A CBI team is said to have reached Sahibganj district which is investigating the murder case of tribal officer of Jharkhand Police, Rupa Tirkey. Sources said that the investigating team is looking for some new facts and it is set to re-examine statements of some of the persons.
The CBI wants to examine family members of one of the personnel of Sahibganj police Pradeep Kumar Paswan. He is currently posted at Town Thana in Sahibganj. His residence is closely situated to that of Rupa Tirkey in Sahibganj where she was found dead in May last year. In the past also the CBI had recorded statements of his family members. The CBI is trying to ascertain who else came to the residence of Rupa Tirkey. However, Pradeep Kumar Paswan was said to be out of Sahibganj when she was suspectedly murder took place.
26 years old Rupa Tirkey was posted at Sahibganj Mahila Police Station when she was found hanging from the ceiling of her official residence. Police arrested the 2018 batch Sub Inspector Shiv Kanojia on May 9, 2021 on the charge of abetment of suicide.
But the family members disputed the police investigation and filed a PIL at Jharkhand High court to seek a CBI inquiry. The family contended that Rupa Tirkery was murdered by powerful persons of Sahibganj and named Pankaj Mishra also. On September 1 last year the court of Justice Sanjay Dwivedi ordered a CBI inquiry into it.
