Ranchi, May 27: Ranchi University’s community radio station Radio Khanchi 90.4 FM is set to broadcast audio podcasts prepared by NCERT Delhi now. The audio podcast will be broadcast every day from 3 pm to 4 pm. Instructions have been given to Radio Khanchi 90.4 FM by NCERT regarding the broadcasting.
Director Anand Kumar Thakur of Radio Khanchi in this regard has said, “Radio Khanchi has already recorded and broadcasted more than 1,600 audio lecture podcasts for college and university students during the Corona period. Now, the community radio station Radio Khanchi will broadcast podcasts for school students as well. He added that it will prove beneficial for the students from classes 1 to 12.”
Thakur added that this decision taken by NCERT is proving to be very successful in keeping the children of rural areas involved with education. He further appreciated the fact that studying through radio during the pandemic was successful in rural areas.
Meanwhile, the NCERT is furthermore, working to promote it on radio as well as on social media to make this medium more effective. Listening to the biography of Dr BR Ambedkar on 90.4 FM, a student Vishal Raj explained that many times they are unable to go to school due to some reason, and in such a situation, they complete their studies through radio broadcast.
In the meantime, Professor Ashok Singh of Ranchi University said, “During the pandemic, especially the children of rural areas had to face a lot of problems. Several children did not have access to facilities like mobile phones. In such a situation, there has been a lot of impact on the education of these children for about two years. However, this step taken by NCERT, especially for the children of rural areas is thoughtful and I am sure that it will bear fruit.”
In this sequence, the Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Kamini Kumar said, “Radio Khanchi is not only producing and broadcasting radio programmes continuously, but is presenting new ideas of research related to radio to the listeners.” She further said that the step by NCERT will not only help students of CBSE by all streams despite differences in forms of education on their boards.
