Moscow, March 9: Russia said on Wednesday that talk with Kyiv to end the Ukraine war were progressing, and that Moscow’s soldiers were not attempting to destabilise the Ukrainian government.
“Some progress has been made,” foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said during a press briefing.
Officials from Ukraine and Russia have been gathering on the Belarus-Poland border for peace talks. Another round of discussions, according to Zakharova, will focus on humanitarian routes to evacuate civilians.
She also stated that Moscow has no plans to conquer Ukraine or destabilise its administration.
“Not to occupy Ukraine, not to destroy its statehood, nor to remove the government,” the army said. It isn’t aimed at the general public,” she added.
President Vladimir Putin stated that he dispatched troops to Ukraine to “de-Nazify” the country. Since Russian military entered Ukraine on February 24, they have advanced and blasted the country’s major cities, forcing tens of thousands of people to escape.
