Kanpur: In a significant railway incident, at least 20 coaches of the Sabarmati Express derailed near Kanpur in the early hours of Saturday. The train, which was en route to Jhansi from Varanasi Junction, met with the mishap after striking a boulder on the tracks.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported, and all passengers were unharmed. The derailment occurred close to the Kanpur railway station, leading to a disruption in rail services along this route. Emergency services, including fire trucks and ambulances, were promptly dispatched to the scene to ensure passenger safety.
North Central Railway officials confirmed that a thorough inspection was conducted, ensuring that no one sustained injuries. In the aftermath, the railway authorities arranged buses to transport passengers to a nearby station, from where they will continue their journey on a special train.
