Ranchi, August 9: The Sahibganj district administration is learnt to have recommended action against four persons under section 12 (1) and (2) of Jharkhand Control of Crime Act who are said to be closely connected with ongoing probe of the Enforcement Directorate of illegal stone mining centered in Sahibganj district.
The administration has stated that for maintaining law and order these persons must be kept in jail.
The well-placed sources confided that in a note sent to the state home department, the district administration has sought action against Dahu Yadav, his brother Sunil Yadav, stone mining businessman Prakash Chandra Yadav and Ashok Yadav.
As per the CCA rule, the DC is entitled to keep a person in prison for 12 days if there are satisfactory grounds for the same. On the recommendation of the Chief secretary, a person can be kept in detention for a period of three months.
However, if a person has to be kept in jail for a year without any trial it is decided by a committee consisting of the High court judge.
Explaining reasons behind the proposal to impose CCA against them, the district administration said that their presence will cause serious law and order problems hence they must be arrested and kept in jail.
Dahu Yadav is a key associate of Pankaj Mishra and a prime suspect in money laundering. He skipped multiple summons of the ED for his questioning. Insiders of the agency would take strong legal actions against Dahu Yadav for his repeated noncompliance with the summons of the ED.
Booked in over a dozen criminal cases, he controls ferry service on the river Ganga and is allegedly involved in illegal mining and transportation. In 2011, he was booked under CCA. The ED has issued summons to his brother Sunil Yadav too.
The name of Prakash Chandra Yadav surfaced after the ED started an investigation of an illegal stone mining case. The ED summoned him for the verification of certain facts and documents.
However, his son Ankush Chandra Yadav recorded his statement. These facts and documents are related to a couple of FIR he had lodged against Pankaj Mishra, Sahibganj DMO Bibhuti Kumar, Dahu Yadav and some senior railway officials on the charge of illegally lifting his stone boulders and transporting them through railway without chalans.
Besides, there is a court case related to Prakash Chandra Yadav being denied permission to operate cargo ships on the river Ganga. The district administration has said that he is a man of criminal nature and there are 17 criminal cases pending against him.
Notably, he was arrested on July 30 in Ranchi by Sahibganj police when he was returning to Patna after meeting a politician. Ashok Yadav on the other hand is a witness of the ED in the illegal mining case.
