Sahibganj: Nine hyva trucks sink as cargo ship overturns in Ganga, many feared dead

Sahibganj, March 25: Nine hyva trucks have submerged in the Ganga river after a cargo ship capsized. Along with this, many people are feared dead in this accident.

The accident happened at around 1 a.m on Friday night. The cargo ship was running between the Interstate Ferry Service Ghat Sahibganj and Manihari.

According to the information, after the ship capsized in the Ganga, nine stones and chips laden Hiva drowned in the river. The driver and the helper riding on these vehicles are suspected to have drowned. The Mufassil police have reached there and started investigating the matter. Preparations are being made to rescue people.

The cargo ship had left for Manihari with overloaded vehicles from Garam Ghat at night. In the middle of the river, the ship started to wobble due to the strong gust of wind. 17 trucks out of 9 trucks got drowned in the middle of theriver. The rescue operation is continuing. NDRF team is also reaching the spot.
