Ranchi, Dec 31: Police in Sahibganj swung into action after a skull was recovered from a lake under the Boria police station area on the information of a fisherman.
The recovery took place at a time when the police in the district are leaving no stone unturned to find out the missing head of ‘love jihad’ victim Rubika Paharia and a section of police officials suspect the skull to be the missing head.
Concerned police officials of the district could not be available for comment, AV Homkar, IG (operations) and police spokesperson said the process is on for proper identification of the skull with the help of forensic science experts.
If the skull is identified as Rubika’s it will be the 29th piece of her body which was cut into 50 pieces and thrown at different places by her husband Dildar Ansari and in-laws after her refusal to accept her husband’s religion.
Rubika solemnised marriage going beyond her family’s permission. She was murdered on December 17. To destroy the evidence, her husband Dildar and his family cut Ribika’s body into 50 pieces. Some pieces were hidden in the house, while other pieces were thrown at deserted places around the locality. When people saw the dogs eating human flesh, they informed the police about it. Police then arrested Dildar Ansari on the basis of suspicion.
After arrest, the entire fact came to the fore. Police arrested 10 people including Dildar’s mother Maryam Nisha, his maternal uncle and a friend.
BJP made a hue and cry over the incident inside and outside the assembly terming it a case of ‘love jihad’.
