New Delhi, May 27: The Sports Authority of India formed a three-member committee on Friday to investigate gymnast Aruna Budda Reddy’s allegations that she was videotaped without her knowledge during a fitness test in March.
Radhica Sreeman, Executive Director of SAI, leads the three-member committee (Teams Division). The committee, which will conduct an investigation, has been told to deliver an interim report as soon as possible.
Aruna Budda Reddy, who bagged a historic bronze medal at the 2018 World Cup in Melbourne, claims that one of the Sports Authority of India trainers videotaped her during a test done prior to her participation in the FIG Apparatus World Cup in Baku in March.
The fitness test was held in front of a committee formed by the Indian Gymnastics Federation.
On Arun Budda Reddy’s injured knee, a six-member GFI committee performed a fitness test. During the process, one of the coaches’ trainees filmed the assessment.
Aruna Budda Ready wrote to GFI president Sudhir Mittal after repeated unsuccessful attempts to obtain the footage. Aruna received a message from the GFI president on May 24 stating that the federation had not ordered any videographic assessment of her fitness test. Aruna then wrote to GFI president Mittal, expressing her surprise and requesting that he receive the footage from the coach’s trainee who was not named in the report.
