Jaipur, Jan 3: Jain monk Sugyesagar Maharaj (72) who was protesting against making the Jain pilgrimage to Sammed Shikhar a tourist place in Jharkhand, sacrificed his life on Tuesday. He was fasting for the last 10 days against the decision of the Jharkhand government in Jaipur.
After the decision of the Jharkhand government, Sugyesagar was fasting in Sanganer since 25th December. His dol yatra was taken out from Sanganer Sanghiji temple on Tuesday morning. During this, a large number of Jain community people including Acharya Sunil Sagar were present. The Jain monk was given a samadhi at Sanganer in Jaipur.
Notably, the Jharkhand government has declared Parasnath hill located in the Giridih district as a tourist place. People of the Jain community are protesting against this across the country. Parasnath hill is famous for Sammed Shikhar, the highest pilgrimage among the people of Jainism around the world.
