Ranchi, June15: The “Samvidhan Jagar Yatra,” which began on June 9 from Kharsawan to raise awareness of constitutional values in remote rural areas of Jharkhand, received a positive response.
Social activist Balram, AJSU’s founder president Prabhakar Tirkey, documentary filmmaker and agitator Prabal Mahto, and former TAC member Ratan Tirkey are leading the yatra and informing people that, despite the constitution’s provision for equal rights, their rights are being violated.
The villagers are being informed about the provisions of the PESA law and the traditional tribal self-governance rules mentioned in the constitution, and they are being persuaded to discuss the implementation of this law, which is entirely constitutional.
The text of the Constitution’s Preamble is also being distributed to help villagers understand the spirit of the document. The preamble is also read in schools and universities. There is a plan to reach remote rural areas of 20 blocks and four districts including Seraikela-Kharsawan, Chaibasa, Simdega, and Khunti by June 18 and so far 15 blocks have been touched.
