Ranchi, Sept.3: The Supreme Court today issued notice to Jharkhand police chief Neeraj Sinha while hearing a contempt petition pointing out irregularities in the replacement of M.V.Rao by Sinha from the post of Director General of Police (DGP).
The notice was issued when the senior advocate appearing on behalf of the petitioner, Mukul Rohatgi, submitted before the division bench presided by Chief Justice N.V.Ramana that the Jharkhand government has violated the apex court order in the appointment of DGP.
The senior advocate said that the state government first appointed Rao as in-charge DGP in violation of the Supreme Court order and then removed him to appoint Sinha as regular DGP.
The apex court after the hearing first made Sinha a party in the case and then issued notice to him. The next date fixed for hearing in the case is after two weeks.
