New Delhi, July 19: The Supreme Court permitted senior advocate Harish Salve to appear virtually on Wednesday in the BCCI matter.
Notably, the BCCI’s petition to amend its constitution regarding the terms of its office bearers, including President Sourav Ganguly and Secretary Jay Shah, would be taken up.
A lawyer sought the Chief Justice N V Ramana-led panel, which also included Justices Krishna Murari and Hima Kohli, to arrange the BCCI case’s scheduled Wednesday hearing through physical mode.
“Senior advocate Salve has been appearing in the BCCI matter. Please permit him to appear through virtual medium,” a lawyer said.
“Granted,” the CJI said.
The bench had previously decided to include BCCI’s petition for an urgent hearing. The cricket organisation wants to modify its constitution to extend the terms of its president, Ganguly, and secretary, Shah.
The BCCI’s senior attorney PS Patwalia said that their motion had been submitted two years prior and that the court had instructed them to get the matter listed within two weeks.
