New Delhi, Dec 5: The Supreme Court on Monday declined to consider a plea that asked the ASI to ascertain the Taj Mahal’s ‘true age’ and delete ‘false facts’ about the monument from history texts.
“What kind of PIL is this?”, a bench comprising Justices MR Shah and CT Ravikumar asked. The bench asked how will the court decide if the historical facts are right or wrong.

The petitioner then tried to have it withdrawn. As a result, the petition was dropped with the option of making a representation to the ASI.
The Supreme Court turned down a similar PIL two months prior that sought to uncover the ‘true history’ of the Taj Mahal and to allow access to the monument’s secret chambers.
