New Delhi, July 5: 117 people, including retired judges, armed forces officers, and bureaucrats, have issued an open letter supporting suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma and claiming that the SC judges crossed the Laxman Rekha. This follows the Supreme Court’s remarks against Nupur Sharma.

Notably, Nupur Sharma was harshly criticised by the vacation bench of Justices Surya Kant and J. B. Pardiwala on Friday after she was accused of making remarks disparaging the Prophet Mohammad during a televised debate. She should apologise to the country, the judges said, because she has a loose mouth and is solely to blame for the current state of the nation.

A total of 117 people signed the open statement, including 25 retired military officers, 15 retired judges, and 77 retired bureaucrats.

“We, as Concerned Citizens, do believe that the democracy of any country will remain intact till all the institutions perform their duties as per the constitution. Recent comments by the two judges of the Hon’ble Supreme Court have surpassed the Laxman Rekha and compelled us to issue an open statement,” the statement read.
