The order upholding the Karnataka government’s directive that required stringent implementation of schools’ and institutions’ uniform standards was challenged in appeals filed with the highest court.
The Karnataka High Court ruled in March that students could not object to the requirement of uniforms as a legitimate restriction, and it dismissed many petitions opposing the wearing of the hijab in educational facilities on the grounds that they lack validity.
Students shall not wear any religious apparel to class until the court makes the final judgement, according to an interim injunction that the High Court issued on February 10. On February 25, the Hijab case’s hearings came to an end, and the court had deferred judgement.
