New Delhi, July 6: Supreme Court on Wednesday agreed to hear tomorrow journalist Rohit Ranjan’s plea seeking urgent hearing. Senior Advocate Siddharth Luthra mentions the journalist’s plea before SC apprising court that he was arrested yesterday by Noida Police and later released on bail and now Chhattisgarh police want to arrest him.

Notably, after the channel aired a false Rahul Gandhi video for which it later apologised, Rohit Ranjan was detained by the police on Tuesday from his house outside of Delhi.

On Tuesday morning, a team from the Chhattisgarh Police arrived in Ghaziabad to arrest Ranjan at his home.

Ranjan, however, asserted that the police in Chhattisgarh, which is governed by the Congress, were not abiding by the law by notifying the local police first. Ranjan was finally taken into prison by the Noida Police after a high-stakes struggle between the police of two different states to do so.
