Ranchi, Jan 20: All options are open for schools in Ranchi for conducting examinations amid the corona pandemic. Schools in Ranchi are gearing up in their own style for the annual examination which will be conducted from February to March at different timings depending upon school to school.

Taking a rough survey of the schools in the district, it came to fore that some schools in the city are confident of getting the annual examination done through offline mode while some have decided to wait for the state government guidelines.

DAV Alok principal Dr Ashok Kumar said that for the past 22 months, schools have remained closed owing to the pandemic and as a result, kids’ education has been adversely affected. Though the school is conducting online classes, the learning process has been hampered as many do not have access to proper and high-speed internet connection and many students do not even have smartphones.

“World Bank’s education director has also said that there’s no evidence to suggest that re-opening of schools has led to the spread of the virus. If the schools would have been opened all the eligible students would have been vaccinated till now. Out of the estimated 500 students, only 70 have been vaccinated after getting the vaccination camp set up in the school premises,” he added.

On the other hand, DAV Kapildev Principal MK Sinha said that the school has prepared itself for both online and offline modes of examination and the school will wait for the government orders.

In a similar manner, JVM Shyamali principal Samarjeet Jana said that as per the government protocols, the school will decide. At this point in time, it is quite early to say anything about the future as nothing can be predicted.

“The school will wait for the government orders and accordingly the school will plan whether to go ahead with offline or online mode of examination,” he said.
