Lohardaga, April 15: Arvind Kumar Lal, the sub-divisional officer (SDO) of Jharkhand’s Lohardaga, suspects sleeper cells were involved in the violence that erupted between two groups in the Hirhi hamlet in Jharkhand’s Lohardaga on Sunday, and appealed to the public not to be misled by rumours.

“Sleeper cells affect the harmony of society in numerous manners,” the SDO told ANI. We’re doing our best, and I’m confident we’ll find the right people. I have urged the residents of the district not to be deceived by anyone or to believe in rumours. For the sake of the district and the state, we must prioritise peace over religion.”

In addition, Lal stated that while there has been communal harmony in the district in recent years, there have recently developed sleeper cells that are attempting to disrupt the peace.

“The clash is not a result of sudden development but seems to be pre-planned and there’s a conspiracy behind this. It means some outside forces are taking lead and have led to the incident. This is being investigated,” added the SDO.

In Lohardaga, substantial forces were deployed, particularly in the violence-plagued area. In the region, senior personnel such as DIGs and superintendents were camping. Even five days after the incident, the deployment is still in place.

A special investigation team (SIT) has been formed to look into the cause of the clash, which resulted in one person dying and several others being hurt.

Notably, section 144 was implemented in the Hirhi village shortly after the skirmishes on Sunday. After stone-pelting during the Shobha Yatra, fights erupted in the Hirhi area of Lohardaga district in Jharkhand, injuring several persons. During the violence that erupted on Sunday, several vehicles were also set ablaze.
