Ranchi, June 9: South Eastern Railway has eliminated 66 Manned level crossings during the financial year 2021-22. SE Railway observed International Level Crossing Awareness Day on Thursday to create awareness amongst the public regarding safety rules at Level Crossings.
SE Railway observed the day by organising educative programmes through posters, leaflets, street plays (Nukkad) etc. to create safety awareness amongst the road users as well as public in general.
Counselling programmes were also organised at several level crossings in all the four divisions of SER viz. Adra, Chakradharpur, Kharagpur and Ranchi to create safety consciousness. Staff and officers of Safety Department, members of Bharat Scouts & Guides, Civil Defence and Railway Protection Force personnel took part in these awareness campaigns.
Notably, has eliminated 66 manned level crossings during the financial year 2021-22. These were eliminated through Construction of Subways, Road overbridges, Diversion of traffic etc.
In addition, one more level crossing in Talgoria-Bokaro Section of Adra Division was closed today through diversion of road traffic. The process of elimination of unmanned level crossings has been completed in the year 2018 and presently no unmanned level crossing exists in SE Railway network.
