Ranchi, April 1: South Eastern Railway, during the financial year 2021-22, has loaded 195.03million tonnes (approx.) of freight which is a record since SER’s trifurcation in the year 2003.  This remarkable loading performance surpassed last year’s (2020-21) loading of 175.82 million tonnes by 10.93%. The main commodities of freight loading of SER were Iron Ore, Coal, Pig Iron & Finished Steel, Cement, Food Grains, Fertiliser, Petroleum products etc.

SE Railway has loaded 41.77 million tonnes of Coal during the financial year 2021-22 and contributed to an uninterrupted supply of coal to the power and steel plants. A remarkable surge of 42.27% has been achieved in coal loading compared to last financial year’s loading of 29.36 million tonnes.

Loading of Iron ore during the year 2021-22 has been107.28 million tonnes which is 2.43% more than the iron ore loading of 2020-21. Pig-Iron & Finished Steel loading has recorded a growth of 11.88%. During the financial year 2021-22, SER loaded 19.30 million tonnes of Pig-Iron & Finished Steel.

SE Railway has also achieved a growth of 10.31% in Cement loading over the last year. SER has carried 13.70 million tonnes of cement in 2021-22which was 12.42 million tonnes in 2020-21.

Setting up of Business Development Unit (BDU) at headquarters and divisions has proved to be a major factor to boost freight loading. Customer-friendly steps like regular interaction with the customers, concession in freight rate and introduction of gainful incentive schemes have helped to bring in new traffic and increase the volume of existing traffic.

General Manager, South Eastern Railway has congratulated the SER workforce for this remarkable achievement in freight loading despite the pandemic.
