Srinagar, June 23: A joint operation by the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday in Kupwara resulted in the deaths of four terrorists who were attempting to enter from Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK). Security forces successfully thwarted a second significant infiltration attempt in a week with this one.
In Kupwara’s Machhal sector, a gunfight took place close to the Line of Control (LoC). The Kashmir Zone Police reported that the terrorists were trying to cross over to the Indian side from POK.
When the terrorists were seen attempting to sneak onto the Indian side, a shootout broke out.
Five Pakistani militants were killed on June 16 in a shootout with security personnel in the Kupwara district’s Jumagund neighbourhood.
