Raipur, Aug 1: In a Monday encounter with security personnel in a forest in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district, a Naxal was killed, according to the police.
According to Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range) Sundarraj P, the gunfight happened this morning in a forest close to Bhandarpadar hamlet while a squad of District Reserve Guard (DRG) was out on an anti-Naxal operation.

Around 7:30 a.m., the patrolling squad was moving through the woodland when the two sides started exchanging fire, he claimed.
After the gunfight stopped, the body of an ultra was recovered from the spot, the IG said adding that “prima facie the dead Maoist has been identified as Madvi Hadma, a divisional committee member (DVC) of Maoists”.
He stated that there was a search effort going on in the neighbourhood. A Naxal has been killed in separate confrontations in the Sukma district three times in the past 10 days, according to this event.
On July 29, a police confrontation resulted in the death of an ultra who had a reward of 5 lakh rupees on his head. On the same day, another ultra was shot and killed in the Phulbagdi region.
