Security personnel kill three extremists in Latehar, recover cache of arms and ammunition

Ranchi, March 26: Security personnel engaged in anti-Naxal operations in forests today killed three extremists and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from Kauwakhand forest, about 125km from here in Latehar district.

 

Those killed were identified as sub zonal commander, area commander and squad member of the TSPS extremist organization but their names are yet to be ascertained.

 

The cache of arms and ammunition recovered included one SLR gun besides magazines of Insas Rifle, AK 47 Rifle and 49 rounds of live cartridges of different bores including 7.62 and 5.56 besides ammunition of AK-47 rifle.

 

The breakthrough came after the security personnel entered the forest on March 24 getting a tip-off regarding the movement of as many as 12 extremists in Marabar and Hesalbar forests prominent among those included Rakesh Ganjhu alias Rakesh Bhokta, Rajesh Oraon, Jitendra Yadav and Nathuni and this morning came under heaving fire.

 

“As indiscriminate fires started coming, security personnel retaliated. Intermittent firing continued for some time. When the fire stopped coming on security personnel and they started a search operation they recovered three bodies besides a cache of arms and ammunition,” said I.G (operation) A.V.Homkar.
