New Delhi, May 9: In order to raise the issue of corruption, Sachin Pilot, a former deputy chief minister of Rajasthan, said on Tuesday that he will be leading a “Jan Sangharsh Yatra” on May 11 from Ajmer to Jaipur. Vasundhara Raje, not Sonia Gandhi, is Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s leader, according to Pilot, who was speaking in Rajasthan.

Pilot’s comments come a day after Gehlot claimed he survived the 2020 rebellion by a small number of Congress MLAs due to the refusal of BJP leaders Vasundhara Raje and Kailash Meghwal to back a plot to overthrow an elected government through financial influence.

“After listening to Ashok Gehlot’s speech in Dholpur, it seems like his leader is not Sonia Gandhi, but Vasundhara Raje,” Sachin Pilot said.

Raje, a former chief minister of Rajasthan, responded to Gehlot’s claim by claiming that “Gehlot’s ‘praises’ are a big conspiracy” against her and that the Congress leader was lying because of rebellion in his party.

On Sunday, Gehlot again criticised the rebellious Congress MLAs, stating that they ought to pay back the money they received from the BJP so that they could perform their duties free from interference.

“For the first time, I am seeing someone criticize MPs and MLAs of their own party. Praising leaders from BJP and dishonouring Congress leaders is beyond my understanding, this is absolutely wrong,” Sachin Pilot said reacting to Gehlot’s statement.

In July 2020, Sachin Pilot and 18 other Congress MLAs rose up in opposition to Gehlot’s leadership.

After the party’s high command intervened, the month-long crisis was resolved.

Pilot was later removed from his positions as president of the state Congress and deputy chief minister.
