Ranchi: Seven women candidates from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will take charge of carrying forward the political legacies of their fathers, husbands, and in-laws in the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections. These candidates—Meera Munda, Purnima Das, Ragini Singh, Sita Soren, Tara Devi, Manju Devi, and Geeta Koda—are ready to contest the elections, continuing the influence of their prominent political families.
Purnima Das, Daughter-in-law of Former CM Raghubar Das
Purnima Das, who has been given the ticket for Jamshedpur East, is the daughter-in-law of former Jharkhand Chief Minister and current Odisha Governor, Raghubar Das. Raghubar Das has represented this seat multiple times, except in 2019 when he lost to Saryu Rai. Now, the responsibility of reclaiming the seat for BJP rests on Purnima’s shoulders.
Meera Munda to Continue Husband Arjun Munda’s Legacy
The BJP has chosen Meera Munda, wife of former Chief Minister Arjun Munda, as the candidate from Potka, replacing Menka Sardar. Meera has been an active member of BJP since 1999 and has dedicated decades to social work. She will now be tasked with upholding her husband’s political legacy in the constituency.
Manju Devi Steps Up to Represent Father’s Political Journey
Manju Devi has been fielded by the BJP from Jamua. She is the daughter of former MLA Sukar Ravidas and had contested the 2019 elections on a Congress ticket but faced defeat. Having recently joined the BJP alongside her father, Manju is determined to make a stronger mark this time.
Sita Soren, Political Heir from a Noted Family
Sita Soren, the elder daughter-in-law of JMM leader Shibu Soren, has been nominated as the BJP candidate for Jamtara. She has previously served as an MLA from Jama and contested the Lok Sabha elections from Dumka. Now, Sita is poised to carry forward the political tradition of her influential family.
Tara Devi to Protect Husband’s Political Standing
Tara Devi will contest from Sindri for the BJP, stepping in for her husband, MLA Indrajit Mahto, who has been battling illness. She has previously served as a district council member and will now fight to retain her husband’s political influence in the region.
Ragini Singh to Uphold Her Imprisoned Husband’s Legacy
Ragini Singh, wife of former MLA Sanjeev Singh, will be contesting from Jharia. With her husband currently in prison, Ragini has been the face of BJP in the area. She now holds the responsibility of protecting and continuing her husband’s political legacy.
Geeta Koda Continues Family’s Political Tradition
Geeta Koda has been fielded from her husband Madhu Koda’s constituency. Madhu Koda, a former Jharkhand Chief Minister, has a long-standing political influence in the state, and now Geeta will carry forward that legacy.
These seven women candidates, rooted in political families, are gearing up for a challenging campaign as they strive to uphold their family legacies and secure victories for the BJP.
